The title "A Deer in the Garden" is a metaphor for the memories of the place where I spent my childhood. Like a deer that unexpectedly appears in the garden quiet, fleeting, yet intensely present, these memories stand for moments of comfort, for the feeling of home, and for those subtle images that stay with us for a lifetime, suddenly reappearing before us in unexpected moments.

This first exhibition brings together artists who work with different techniques and who find themselves at different stages of their artistic journeys. Some are at the beginning of their path, while others bring many years of experience. What connects them is not an overarching curatorial concept or a shared theme, but rather a shared attitude: openness, exchange, and mutual support. The exhibition understands itself as a space of encounter, where diversity is not unified, but made visible.

With this exhibition, we would like to introduce W26 as a new offspace in Zurich, a place that creates room for encounters, experimentation, and dialogue. W26 does not see itself as an institutional white cube with a strict thematic framework, but as a living meeting point where ideas can grow and relationships can develop. Our intention is deliberately not to present a conceptually closed exhibition. Instead, it is about community, about a sense of family and friendship, about bringing together different perspectives and generations.
